teaching

mia has over 15 years of teaching experience, specializing in contemporary and improvisation. Although they have been teaching since 2008, in 2015 mia began to hone in on creating space for all-bodies-welcome, no-experience-necessary, beginner contemporary classes. During the pandemic, mia became more active in decolonization work participating in an 8-week decolonizing dance program alongside consciousness and embodiment workshops. They have taught a diverse range of students, LGBTQAI+ folx, BIPOC artists, children with special needs, neurodivergent adults, pregnant folx, people in wheelchairs, people experiencing houselessness, alongside training pre-professional dancers. mia continues to provide mentorship, consultation, and letters of recommendation for her students pursuing dance as a career.

They are currently a Teaching Artist for Segerstrom Center for the Arts’ Cassin Promise program, V&T Academy of Dance, and University of California, Irvine.

mia is available for private lessons, classes, and choreography.
